Like keeping an eye on the birds in your backyard feeders? In France, there’s an app for that and it’s not just a way to pass the time: the data collected by amateur birdwatchers is logged and used by researchers in a project sponsored by the Paris Museum of Natural History. The program has collected information from 30,000 sessions by 1,000 players across France over the last five years, in an effort to better understand and preserve winged wildlife.
